Design and Communication…
Do you FREEZE UP when you approach a blank page? Here we have a heart-to-heart…. sometimes we avoid what we most want or most need to do. This can be the video camera, the sketchbook, the illustration board, the fashion show, the portfolio, the radio broadcast, podcast, phone call…. There’s so much power in communicating, in connecting our message/mission/ love with the outside world that we can hold ourselves back, I guess, out of the fear of that power.
Is that it?
I think of that famous poem by Langston Hughes:
Harlem
What happens to a dream deferred?
Does it dry up
like a raisin in the sun?
Or fester like a sore—
And then run?
Does it stink like rotten meat?
Or crust and sugar over—
like a syrupy sweet?
Maybe it just sags
like a heavy load.
Or does it explode?
Fashion Illustration Tribe isn’t necessarily about ruling the fashion universe.
It’s about being authentic, feeling your feelings, dreaming your visions, sharing and expressing, developing and asking, answering, moving and shaking, tuning in to your inner voice, feeling feisty.
And shaping fashion to OUR tastes.
