FASHION AND FIGURE DRAWING SESSIONS

FRESH PERSPECTIVES FOR FASHION DRAWING THROUGH LIVE SESSIONS (VIDEO ENCLOSED)

For now, I’m not using LIVE MODELS for my fashion drawing sessions on zoom, because I am obsessed with curating posed leotard figures for the warmup period at the beginning, and BEAUTIFUL CLOTHES and poses for the longer drawings.

WHAT MAKES A DRAWING SESSION “LIVE”?

“LIVE” model drawing sessions means that we participate in a real-time session with curated music and images.

LIVE fashion and figure drawing is a truly special experience because of the improvisational and in-the-moment nature of real-time drawing and limited-time poses.

When poses are short, when we know our time is limited, we tend to release perfectionism and control and more easily access ESSENCE, EXPERIMENTATION, INTUITION, IMPULSE, and PLAYFULNESS.

A NEW WAY TO THINK ABOUT FIGURE AND FASHION DRAWING (VIDEO):

Body Language IN FASHION Model Drawing

THE EXPRESSIONS OF THE HUMAN FIGURE and our love for that language are what fuel us in our journey learning model drawing (for costume, fashion design, fashion illustration, profession, pleasure or play).

While we sketch from standing, posed, expressive figures:

  • I’ll share my desktop,
  • engage in live Q and A via chat box or audio
  • real time demonstrations or insights offered as i’m guided to by any certain pose or garment,
  • incorporate practice and exercises that open you up and stretch your expression and experience
  • open-ended exploration is the general rule
  • sharing your fashion drawings/ questions/ feedbackat the end (you’re free to show up and participate, or quietly sketch with your camera off).

CHARCOAL STICKS

In BODY LANGUAGE,

you’ll be invited to draw along  with me in real time (you’ll have access to the replay classes forever) and try out new tools, approaches and insights designed to loosen you up  in fashion drawing and bring you into a more raw, more honest, more playful, energetic, flowing and ALSO MORE PRECISE approach to drawing and sketching for fashion illustration and beyond.

Fashion drawing should be FUN

Joy and love for the model drawing and fashion as a subject  leads our energy as we dive in to the sweeping gestures of movement that build a “fashion ” figure, silhouette, or sketch.

SENSITIVE TOOLS WILL GUIDE YOU TO FEEL INTO YOUR STYLE AND VOICE

NEWSPRINT PAPER

Inexpensive, lightly toned, and usually rough to the touch, newsprint is an art-school standard for model drawing sessions that stress informal, disposable, lighthearted studies and explorations based on a PROCESS mentality that is relaxed.
It constantly reminds us to lean back and enjoy this time because we are not in a formal, perfectionist space.

Fashion Illustration is about people in LIFE. We follow our instincts and body to make figure drawing more effortless and comfortable, so our subjects also look alive in their bodies.

SMUDGES AND SCRATCHLINES, PROCESS IS EXPRESSIVE
